
Letter from the Founder
During my career in the media business, I have taken pride in being able to see what’s coming next. Beginning my career at CBS, I saw that the future of the media business was going to be in online communications. The large existing media companies recognized that they needed to expand their offerings to include all forms of media, including this new medium the Internet.
My sales success at CBS led me to join The FeedRoom, a pioneer streaming video news service. My experience there demonstrated to me that there was an appetite, albeit an untested and reserved one, for online video. This experience inspired me to take the plunge and start my own company, BBE, a digital video ad network, created to bring together advertisers looking to extend their message to the growing online audience, and publishers anxious to be part of an expanding network of sites represented by one dedicated sales force.
Unlike most in the new media business, I funded the start of BBE myself, no VC money, no equity investors, me. From our spartan beginnings in 2004, the company has grown to over 50 employees, with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, TX, Hong Kong and Shanghai. We all share the passion needed to grow this business as we lead our clients into the future of video… how it will be viewed, how advertisers will come to utilize the special power of this medium and how publishers will communicate their content.
It is with great pride that I lead this team of professionals into the evolution and shaping of the most important communications medium to come along in fifty years.
